Rufus Jones (1863-1948) was the co-founder of the American Friends Service Committee, which has won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was an eminent historian of mysticism, teacher of philosophy, religious reformer and healer of schisms, exponent of Quaker service to mankind in all parts of the world, prolific author and a compelling compelling speaker. These many facets of Rufus Jones’ life and work are explored in this video documentary which makes use of archival film and photographs, audio recordings of Jones’ speeches and beautifully filmed contemporary footage from the places he lived and worked. Students of Rufus Jones share memories of his deep spirituality, his insightful activism and his keen wit, creating a compelling portrait of this passionate religious leader and activist.
